Scriptures on Kindness

The Bible is very clear that we are to be kind to everyone, even if they are unkind to us. Why? Because even when we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. We don't deserve His kindness, yet He is kind to us anyway because He loves us. We pray that these scriptures will encourage you and we pray Psalm 67:1 over you, that God will be gracious and kind-hearted to you, the He will bless you, and His face will shine with favor on you!

Blessed For Being Kind

Ruth 2:12 (AMP)

"May the Lord repay you for your kindness, and may your reward be full from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

Matthew 5:5 (AMP)

“Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth."

Matthew 6:2 (AMP)

“So whenever you give to the poor and do acts of kindness, do not blow a trumpet before you [to advertise it], as the hypocrites do [like actors acting out a role] in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored and recognized and praised by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full."

God's Kindness

Psalm 18:25 (AMP)

With the kind (merciful, faithful, loyal) You show Yourself kind, with the blameless You show Yourself blameless.

Psalm 145:17 (AMP)

The Lord is [unwaveringly] righteous in all His ways and gracious and kind in all His works.

Isaiah 54:8 (AMP)

“In an outburst of wrath I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

Luke 6:35 (AMP)

But love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; for your reward will be great (rich, abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High; because He Himself is kind and gracious and good to the ungrateful and the wicked.

Romans 2:4 (AMP)

Or do you have no regard for the wealth of His kindness and tolerance and patience [in withholding His wrath]? Are you [actually] unaware or ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness leads you to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life]?

Romans 11:22 (AMP)

Then appreciate the gracious kindness and the severity of God: to those who fell [into spiritual ruin], severity, but to you, God’s gracious kindness—if you continue in His kindness [by faith and obedience to Him]; otherwise you too will be cut off.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (AMP)

For you are recognizing [more clearly] the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [His astonishing kindness, His generosity, His gracious favor], that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (abundantly blessed).

Ephesians 1:5-6 (AMP)

He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will— to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [His Son, Jesus Christ].

Ephesians 2:6-7 (AMP)

And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, [and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption].

Titus 3:3-5 (AMP)

For we too once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various sinful desires and pleasures, spending and wasting our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the goodness and kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared [in human form as the Man, Jesus Christ], He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we have done, but because of His own compassion and mercy, by the cleansing of the new birth (spiritual transformation, regeneration) and renewing by the Holy Spirit.

Whoever strikes you on the cheek, offer him the other one also [simply ignore insignificant insults or losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity]. Whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either..."

The husband must fulfill his [marital] duty to his wife [with good will and kindness], and likewise the wife to her husband.
