When we don’t take care of our bodies, we are literally coming into agreement with Satan’s plan for our lives.
We want to thank each person that God has led in our paths to help support us during these difficult times. Because we may not have much to give financially or else-wise right now due to our difficult circumstances, I (Brandi) felt led to prepare this blog for you to use to fight the battles you are facing during this season. There are a few specific people that are going through extremely difficult situations right now that have asked us for prayer, and some of the prayer requests specifically inquire about healing for your body. So, to give back today, I have created a tool for each of you to use on your journey to walking in the fullness of the health that Christ died for us to have.
You all know that we believe very strongly that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but that our battle is against the demonic spiritual realm. Therefore, you have already been made whole in Christ once you accept Him as Lord and Savior. However, we also have a duty to live balanced lives and take care of the temple, our bodies, that have Holy Spirit residing in them. If you are trying to lose weight, get healthier, etc. I have provided a scriptural outline to come against the lies that the enemy tries to tell you to keep you from taking care of yourself. Please use this tool to help you fight the good fight. Use the Word of God as your sword and take your victory!
At one point a few years ago, God very specifically told me to prepare my body for a crisis, as I am a certified crisis responder and nurse. I developed these scriptures to combat the lies of the enemy during that time that were trying to come against me to keep me from getting in shape to be able to take care of others in crisis. If any of you have ever deployed, you know what a toll deploying can take on your bodies. I want to give you some scripture snacks that helped me remain consistent and steady in my race to getting healthy again. Side note, this did work! I lost over 30 pounds over about 5 months and toned in areas I had never been toned in. I felt healthier than ever before. IT works if you work it :) I hope you find them of some use! First of all, He delivered me out of the old.
Psalm 40:13 “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet upon a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”
I would like to declare over you that the pains/aches/tiredness/weakness/infirmities of the last season are now DEAD and GONE and Christ has heard YOUR cry. He has come to meet YOUR needs. This IS your time! Jesus is here to lift you out of the slimy pit of the curses the world’s view of “aging” might put on you and set your feet upon a rock so that you will stand STRONG for WHATEVER and ALL it is He has called you to do in this season and the seasons forevermore. I thank You, Father, that You have given each person reading this, new songs! I declare you will have strength all the days of your life to FULLY and HEALTHILY live out your destiny! I declare over you, NOW is the time to be RESTORED BEYOND the healthiest you have ever been in your physical body!! No more looking back! As this scripture says, many will see and fear and will thus put their trust in the Lord! Then I PERCEIVED He was doing something NEW: Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” I declare over you that God IS making His own way, tailored personally for you to overcome any unhealthy issues you might be facing. When it gets tough and you hit a plateau: Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He WILL do this.” (emphasis mine) Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Romans 12:112 “ Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor; serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” When timing doesn’t seem to work out to complete all of your tasks but God is still convicting you about working out: Proverbs 3:56 “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and He will make your paths straight.” When the enemy reminds you that you’ve struggled feeling _______ (weak, tired, out of energy, whatever applies to you)
John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that you may have life, to the full, until it overflows.” 2 Cor. 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has Come!” 1 Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” When we just downright don’t believe we can keep on: Ephesians 3:20 “God can do anything, you know! Far more than we could ever imagine, or guess, or request in our wildest dreams. He does it not by pushing us around, but by working within us; His Spirit deeply, and gently within us.”
Romans 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written, ‘For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” When we need to be reminded of our ‘why’: 1 Cor. 6:1920 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” Taking care of our body is a form of worship to God: Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual act of worship.” 1 Thess. 5:23 “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, AND BODY be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained all of this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of for me.” When fear comes about what might happen when we change our lifestyle (weak immune system, any type of new giant to face), or when we need the motivation to do strength training: Numbers 14:9 “ Do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us.” Josh. 1:67 “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the laws My servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”
Psalm 31:24 “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” When we need the motivation to stretch: Isaiah 54:2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
